Prototype pop-up list

Prototype pop-up listTop en this list, do any of the following to set the $Prototype of the current selected item(s):

  • Outline/Chart view. Right click icon of selected item(s).
  • Map view. Right click prototype tab of selected item(s).
  • Properties Inspector, Prototype tab.

It will pop up a menu of prototypes available in the current TBX:

  • either of:
    • Can Be Prototype, if the current note is not a prototype. Clicking this label makes this note a prototype, i.e. sets $IsPrototype to true, and this note is added to the list beneath the rule.
    • Is A Prototype, if the current note is already a prototype. Clicking this label makes this note a non-prototype, i.e. sets $IsPrototype to false, and this note is removed the list beneath the rule.
  • [ruler]
  • list of available prototypes

Selecting a list item below the ruler will assign that prototype to the current note. The selected prototype is ticked. Or if the selected item is a prototype, that prototype name in the list is greyed out.

In older versions, if the current TBX had no prototypes the list simply contained the item 'none'.

The selected choice is applied to all selected notes, if more than one.

This is just one method of setting a note's prototype.

List sort order

The items in the list are sorted in order of $OutlineOrder value. The list includes both prototypes in the default '/Prototypes' container and any created elsewhere in the document.

To re-order the list simply arrange the prototypes' $OutlineOrder accordingly.

If all prototypes are in the /Prototypes folder, you can set the Sort order for that container to automatically sort the list to your desired list order.
