The view's menu allows access to most view configuration features via a context (right-click) menu:
- Convert To. Changes a building to one of the other available building/non-building types (below). The menu is greyed out if the cursor is not over a building or other note object.
- Make. Creates a new note at this location, using one of the building or non-building types listed below. Can only be used on an unoccupied part of the plane (ground). The type of building or other feature created is stored in $CityKind.
- Modify. A series of menus allow configuration of buildings. The implications of the customisations are left to the user and are not stored. The actual customisation values (of style, etc.0 are stored as Dictionary-type data in $CityData.
- Add New Floor. Only for some building types (see list below). The new floor is a new note, in the outline added as a child of the ground floor note. For third floor (second extra level) and above the new note is a new last sibling of existing children. New floors (notes) added this way have a hyphen placeholder name '
-'; this stops untitled new notes being auto-deleted. - Flipped. Flips the font elevation design left/right, on the vertical axis.
- Lights. Toggles a lighting effect in the building's windows on/off.
- Badge. Sets the notes $Badge, whose artwork is drawn on the front of (the ground floor of) the building.
- Transom (BrE equivalent: Fanlight). Show/hide a window above the front door:
none/square/fan/triple/pediment. - Door. Front door style:
square/rounded. - Window. Style of windows (other than the Transom, q.v. above). Styles:
plain/sash/casement/Queen Anne. Additional menu choices:- Shape. Window shape:
plain/rounded/arc/gothic. - Shutters: Styles:
none/open/ajar/closed. - Awning. Toggles show/hide an awning over the ground floor main window, but only for some building types e.g. 'shophouse'. The sub-menu is greyed out for other building types.
- Shape. Window shape:
- Main window. The appearance of the ground floor main window:
plain/lattice. Only available for some building types. The sub-menu is greyed out for other building types. - Accessories. Placed out front. Options:
Signpost(Pub, Vendor),Table(Vendor).

- Rotate. Rotate the orientation of the building 90 degrees:
Counter Clockwise/Clockwise. A building's degree of rotation values is stored in $CityRotate (Number-type). Menu rotation results in values of 0/90/180/270, but any value 0–359 may be used. - Prototype. Sets the associated note's prototype ($Prototype).
- Hide. Hide this building in this type of view. Boolean state stored in $CityHidden.
- Delete. This deletes the associated note from the document.
Building Notes
There are a range of building types. Only those in italics may have multiple floors:
- Welsh
- Pub
- Rowhouse
- Beacon Hill
- Vendor
- Dome
- Shophouse
Non-building Notes
There are some non-building objects that may be created in the city:
- Fountain
- Street. Adds a house-sized section of paved street.
Signposts
If the building has a signpost and has an image that the very start of $Text, that image is drawn onto the signpost.
